Long Description
Today most of the internet users have a multitude of online accounts. Telephone and utility companies, life and auto insurance, banks and credit cards, schools and libraries, forums and online communities all require a username and password for identification.
Keeping track of all these passwords is a challenge and most of the people either use the same username and password everywhere or write the password down in a notepad, a spreadsheet or a sticky note. Some users even devise their own schemes to make their passwords appear different depending on the website. Unfortunately, none of these options is secure. The worst of them, using the same username and password everywhere, can easily get all of your accounts compromised if someone steals the password. Also, with the same password for everything, you cannot easily give access to a single website to your friend or family member.
The most secure option would be to keep your passwords in an encrypted storage and use a unique strong password for every online account. These strong and unique passwords are nearly impossible to memorize so it is important that a program automates the creation of them and filling when needed.
What makes 1Password unique is its direct integration with web browsers. By running inside Safari or one of the other supported web browsers, 1Password is able to automatically generate strong passwords, remember them for you, and then quickly log you in without the need to type or even see the password.
Works with:
- Safari: 4 – 5
